01 — Grants to Impact

We Secure Funding. We Deliver Results.

Blue Green Tanzania Consult helps NGOs win grants and implement environmental projects — from the ocean floor to the forest floor.

02 — Seabed to Shoreline

Protecting Tanzania's Ocean, One Survey at a Time.

From Tanga to Mtwara, we have mapped thousands of kilometres of Tanzania's seabed — giving decision-makers the science they need to protect coastal ecosystems.

03 — People First

Conservation That Starts With the Community.

We train, empower, and walk alongside coastal communities — because lasting conservation only works when the people who live there are leading it.

04 — Trusted Partners

Internationally Trusted. Locally Rooted.

Our work meets the standards of the world's most competitive conservation funders — delivered by a team that knows Tanzania's coast, communities, and ecosystems from the inside.

Who We Are

A Tanzanian consultancy at the crossroads of conservation, community and capacity.

Based in Dar es Salaam. Working across the entire Tanzanian coast.

Blue Green Tanzania Consult is a Tanzanian environmental consultancy based in Dar es Salaam, working across marine conservation, terrestrial conservation, community empowerment, and capacity building.

We help NGOs and community organisations win the funding they need — and then deliver the work in the field alongside partners like USAID, the EU, TNC, IUCN, WWF, and WCS.

What We Do

Thematic areas of expertise

Four focus areas. Healthy ecosystems on land and at sea, empowered communities, capable institutions.

Track Record

4 marine projects. 2 world-class funders. Real impact on the ground.

In partnership with ASUTA. Funded by USAID and the EU.

Together with ASUTA, we have delivered four major marine conservation projects across Tanzania — mapping the seabed, training coastal communities, and strengthening Beach Management Units. We are now leading Tanzania's most comprehensive marine ecosystem assessment, commissioned by The Nature Conservancy under the EU's €110M Blue Economy Programme.

Why BlueGreen Tanzania

A rare combination, built for integrated work.

Six attributes that make us responsive to complex coastal diagnostics.

01 / Capability

Field-Proven Experience

We do not just advise from an office. We have been in the water, on the boats, and in the villages. Our recommendations are grounded in real fieldwork across Tanzania's coast.

02 / Capability

Proven Fundraising Track Record

We have helped secure funding from USAID and the European Union — two of the most competitive and rigorous funders in the conservation sector. We know what it takes to write a winning proposal.

03 / Capability

Scientific Rigour

From AI-assisted seabed imagery analysis to ecosystem valuation, we apply internationally recognised methods that produce data donors and policymakers trust.

04 / Capability

Community at the Centre

We do not design projects for communities — we design them with communities. Every programme we implement builds local ownership from day one.

05 / Capability

End-to-End Partnership

We are with you from the first funding idea to the final donor report. NGOs do not need to find multiple partners for proposal writing, implementation, and reporting — we handle all of it.

06 / Capability

Local Knowledge, Global Standards

We understand Tanzania's coast, its communities, and its institutions inside out. And we deliver that local knowledge to international donor standards — a combination that is rare and that funders value enormously.

What 8,893 Seabed Photographs Tell Us About Tanzania's Ocean

8,893 photographs. Six districts. Two marine parks. Combining our northern Dar es Salaam and southern coast benthic surveys under the USAID Heshimu Bahari programme produced the most detailed picture of Tanzania's underwater world ever created. Here is what the data showed and why it matters.

Training 750 People Is Not a Project Output — It Is the Point

When we trained over 750 coastal community members across Dar es Salaam and Mtwara, the numbers were the least interesting part. What mattered was what changed — in knowledge, in confidence, and in how communities now relate to the ocean they depend on.

How to Write a Proposal That Actually Wins — Lessons From the Field

Most NGOs in Tanzania have good ideas. Very few consistently win the funding to act on them. After helping secure grants from USAID and the European Union, here are the practical lessons we have learned about what separates proposals that win from those that do not.
